Mapping forest site quality at national level

چکیده
Determining site quality is essential in order to develop sustainable forest management, allowing more appropriate silvicultural decisions be made. However, most studies carried out Spain have focused on a few species and at local scale, which makes it difficult apply the findings or conduct larger scales. The aim of this study obtain map national scale for main (Pinus sylvestris, Pinus uncinata, pinea, halepensis, nigra, pinaster, canariensis, radiata, Abies alba, Juniperus thurifera, Quercus robur, Querus petraea, pyrenaica, faginea, ilex, suber, Populus Eucalyptus globulus, camaldulensis, Fagus sylvatica, Castanea sativa, pubescens, × canadensis, Betula alba). National Forest Inventory (NFI) data has been used models using form (SF) concept (dominant height- dominant diameter relationship). Universal Kriging techniques identify both geographical trend linked factors (climatic, soil physiographic variables) their spatial autocorrelation estimate SF every species. Finally, information was interpolated each tile Spanish Map considered present, thus obtaining results reveal biologically consistent models, indicating that NFI are suitable studying level. variables differ among analyzed, altitude being important variable estimating while aridity less important. obtained could provide an tool managers working level with Spain. Timber Mapping for Site-Specific Forest Management
The adoption of precision agriculture technologies and site-specific management has been limited in the forest industry. Geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensed imagery have been used in forest management, but at a landscape scale, typically to prescribe and schedule treatments for a diverse collection of relatively large tracts. Individual stands have traditionally been treated ...
متن کاملStochastic Forest Modelling at the Forest Level
If taken into account, climate change will, according to current knowledge, have considerable consequences for forest management. However, there is considerable uncertainty regarding what future climate trajectory will follow. The possibilities to analyze uncertainties like this in terms of optimal forest management problems are limited. This is due to, e.g., lack of appropriate methodology, es...

متن کاملMapping Forest Biomass Using Remote Sensing and National Forest Inventory in China
Quantifying the spatial pattern of large-scale forest biomass can provide a general picture of the carbon stocks within a region and is of great scientific and political importance. The combination of the advantages of remote sensing data and field survey data can reduce uncertainty as well as demonstrate the spatial distribution of forest biomass. In this study, the seventh national forest inv...
